Financial crime rarely begins with a suspicious transaction.

. And now, as artificial intelligence tools are being weaponised, the boundaries between cybercrime and financial crime are blurring at unprecedented speed.

At our recent webinar, we explored why

cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue: it’s the gatekeeper for financial crime prevention

. The latest revelations from Anthropic, whose chatbot Claude was abused by hackers for cyber extortion and sanctions evasion, underscore just how urgent this shift has become.

From Hacking to Laundering: The Crime Chain Reaction

Cyberattacks today rarely end at the point of breach. More often, they are the spark that ignites a chain reaction of financial crime. A single phishing attack that compromises employee credentials can quickly evolve into unauthorized access to customer accounts, which in turn fuels the movement of illicit funds through money mule networks. Ransomware is no longer just an operational headache—it drives victims into opaque payment channels that are deliberately designed to obscure the trail of money, routed through mixers, crypto exchanges, and offshore accounts before disappearing from sight. Even the theft of personal data from a breach finds its way into the compliance world, as stolen KYC records and passports are resold on the dark web and re-emerge as synthetic identities used to open fraudulent accounts. What begins as a cyber incident inevitably ends as a compliance risk, with the true impact often only becoming visible once the laundering cycle is well underway.

The Anthropic Case: AI Weaponised for Crime

In August 2025, reports revealed how hackers had used Anthropic’s AI tool, Claude, to conduct cybercrime at scale:

For compliance professionals, the implications are profound:

: Companies infiltrated by fraudulent employees risk public scandal and regulatory scrutiny.

Why Cyber and Compliance Must Merge

For decades, cybersecurity and compliance existed in separate silos. Cybersecurity was the domain of IT departments, focused on firewalls, intrusion detection, and patch management, while financial crime prevention lived in compliance, concentrating on AML checks, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring. But criminals have never recognized these boundaries. The reality is that a phishing email can simultaneously compromise sensitive data and set the stage for money laundering; a ransomware payment can instantly transform into a sanctions breach. In this new environment, treating cyber risks as purely technical problems and financial crime as purely regulatory ones creates blind spots that criminals exploit. The only way forward is convergence: compliance and cyber teams sharing intelligence, aligning their investigations, and working as two halves of the same shield.

            If cyber incidents are the

           entry point

           , then compliance teams must:

Treat cyber alerts as potential financial crime indicators.

Share intelligence between IT, fraud, and compliance teams.

Integrate cyber threat intelligence (CTI) into AML risk assessments.

Without this convergence, firms remain blind to the full risk picture.

AI as a Force Multiplier for Criminals

As Alina Timofeeva, cybercrime and AI adviser, put it:

“The time required to exploit cybersecurity vulnerabilities is shrinking rapidly. Detection and mitigation must shift towards being proactive and preventative, not reactive after harm is done.”

           Key dynamics at play:

            Acceleration

: Tasks that once took weeks—crafting extortion letters, scanning vulnerabilities—can now be done in minutes.

            Scalability

: AI lowers the entry barrier; less-skilled criminals can launch sophisticated attacks.

            Psychological manipulation

: AI-generated ransom notes or scam messages are increasingly personalized and convincing.

Artificial intelligence doesn’t create new crimewaves out of thin air, but it supercharges the ones that already exist. Tasks that might once have required weeks of effort and specialist expertise - writing malicious code, scanning for vulnerabilities, or composing convincing extortion messages—can now be executed in minutes by anyone with access to a powerful model. AI also brings scale: it lowers the barrier to entry, allowing less-skilled actors to launch sophisticated attacks with the polish and precision of seasoned professionals. And beyond efficiency, there is the psychological edge. AI-generated ransom notes and phishing messages are increasingly personalized, persuasive, and indistinguishable from legitimate communication. The risk on the horizon is even greater: agentic AI, tools that operate autonomously, capable not only of breaking into systems but of laundering funds in real time across multiple jurisdictions and currencies. This is where the line between cybercrime and financial crime could effectively vanish.

The Compliance Lens: From Reactive to Proactive

           The Conclusion

Cybersecurity has always been about protecting systems and data, but in the age of AI-driven attacks, it has become something far bigger: the frontline defense against financial crime. The recent Anthropic case shows how quickly criminals adapt, using AI not only to hack but to plan, to extort, and to infiltrate. What begins with a compromised system often ends with laundered money, sanctions breaches, and reputational fallout.

For too long, cyber and compliance have been treated as separate worlds, each speaking its own language and managing its own risks. But criminals see no such division. To them, cyber intrusion, fraud, and money laundering are simply different stages of the same business model. That means our defenses must evolve in the same way—integrated, proactive, and capable of anticipating threats before they hit the transaction monitoring queue.

The message is clear: financial crime prevention now starts at the firewall. In an era where AI accelerates both the opportunity and the threat, the organizations that succeed will be those that treat cybersecurity and compliance not as parallel functions, but as partners in resilience. Anything less is leaving the gate wide open.

Sustainability and Ethical Trade:

Consumers and governments are demanding greater transparency in supply chains, pushing companies to ensure compliance with environmental and labor standards.

               Digitalization of Trade:

Governments and organizations are increasingly adopting digital tools, such as electronic documentation and blockchain, to modernize trade processes.

Amid these trends, trade compliance has become more challenging—and more critical—than ever. Non-compliance can result in hefty fines, shipment delays, and reputational damage. This is where automation and AI come into play.

How Automation and AI Are Revolutionizing Trade Compliance

Automation and AI are transforming trade compliance by addressing some of its most persistent pain points: manual processes, human error, and the sheer volume of data involved. Here’s how:

             1. Streamlining Documentation and Classification

One of the most time-consuming aspects of trade compliance is managing documentation, such as customs declarations, certificates of origin, and export licenses. Automation tools can generate, validate, and submit these documents in seconds, reducing the risk of errors and delays.

AI-powered classification systems are also improving accuracy in product categorization. For example, machine learning algorithms can analyze product descriptions and assign the correct Harmonized System (HS) codes, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.

             2. Real-Time Monitoring and Risk Management

AI enables real-time monitoring of trade transactions, flagging potential compliance risks before they escalate. For instance, AI systems can detect anomalies in shipment data, such as discrepancies in declared values or suspicious routing patterns, and alert compliance teams.

Additionally, AI can analyze vast amounts of data to identify trends and predict regulatory changes, helping businesses stay ahead of the curve.

              3. Enhancing Supply Chain Visibility

Blockchain technology, often integrated with AI, is improving supply chain transparency by creating immutable records of transactions. This not only simplifies compliance audits but also helps businesses demonstrate adherence to ethical and sustainability standards.

              4. Reducing Costs and Improving Efficiency

By automating repetitive tasks, businesses can significantly reduce the time and resources spent on trade compliance. This allows compliance teams to focus on strategic activities, such as risk assessment and process optimization.

Moreover, AI-driven tools can analyze historical data to identify inefficiencies in trade processes, enabling companies to streamline operations and cut costs.

The Future of Trade Compliance: A Digital-First Approach

As global trade continues to evolve, businesses must adopt a digital-first approach to compliance. Here are some key developments to watch:

                Integration of AI with IoT:

The Internet of Things (IoT) is enabling real-time tracking of goods in transit. When combined with AI, this data can be used to ensure compliance with temperature controls, hazardous material regulations, and other requirements.

               Collaborative Platforms:

Governments and businesses are increasingly using collaborative platforms to share data and streamline compliance processes. For example, the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) Data Model promotes standardization and interoperability in trade documentation.

               AI-Powered Regulatory Updates:

As regulations change, AI systems can automatically update compliance protocols and notify businesses of new requirements, reducing the risk of non-compliance.

               Ethical AI in Trade Compliance:

As AI becomes more prevalent, there will be a growing focus on ensuring that these systems are transparent, unbiased, and aligned with ethical standards.

So, if you’re still relying on spreadsheets and manual processes, it’s time to level up. The future of trade compliance is digital, and the businesses that embrace it will be the ones that thrive.

For industries built on precision, regulation, and risk—think compliance, finance, supply chain, and international trade—agentic AI is not just a trend. It’s the future.

           What Is Agentic AI?

“Agentic AI” refers to AI systems that act as agents—they don’t just process tasks; they pursue goals. These systems can:

Set sub-goals to achieve a bigger mission

Interact with external tools and APIs autonomously

Adjust actions based on feedback and environmental changes

            Learn continuously and optimize performance

Unlike conventional AI models that follow human instructions step-by-step, agentic AI behaves more like a junior analyst with initiative—it doesn’t wait to be told how to do something. It just needs to know what you want.

Agentic AI in Financial Crime Compliance, Trade and Risk Management

In the compliance world, rules are rigid, but real-world risks aren’t. Here's how agentic AI can transform the field:

            Proactive Risk Detection

: Instead of flagging suspicious activity after the fact, an agentic system can continuously monitor, triage, and even pre-escalate cases based on evolving thresholds and patterns.

            Trade Sanctions & Export Controls

: Imagine an AI that automatically screens shipments, detects anomalies, initiates license checks, and notifies the legal team—all before the shipment reaches customs.

            Audit-Ready Recordkeeping

: With built-in agentic workflows, compliance logs can be auto-generated, updated in real time, and tied directly to policy logic and regulatory updates.

But Is It Safe? Governance & Trust in Agentic Systems

With power comes responsibility. Agentic AI introduces new governance challenges:

            Explainability

: Can your agentic system explain why it made a decision?

            Escalation Protocols

: When should a human step in? What’s the threshold for intervention?

            Bias Mitigation

: How do you ensure that autonomous agents aren’t amplifying hidden biases in data?

For high-stakes sectors, governance frameworks must evolve to monitor agents, not just models. That includes AI audit trails, access controls, ethical boundaries, and ongoing human-in-the-loop safeguards.

Use Case 1: Agentic AI in Trade Compliance

Let’s take a fictional scenario from the air cargo industry:

A European freight forwarder is shipping dual-use goods to a country under partial sanctions.

An agentic AI system detects a potential export control issue mid-routing. It pauses the shipment, checks whether an export license exists, and—finding none—automatically flags the compliance officer, generates a report with a recommended action, and sends a digital inquiry to the licensing authority platform.

Use Case2: Agentic AI in KYC

A fintech platform launches an agentic AI agent for onboarding corporate clients. Once the user submits initial details, the AI agent automatically gathers and validates data from public registries, performs UBO (Ultimate Beneficial Owner) checks, scans sanctions and PEP databases, and verifies document authenticity using OCR and anomaly detection.

If inconsistencies or missing documents are found, the AI contacts the client autonomously with a personalized follow-up request. If all data checks out, it generates a KYC risk rating, logs the audit trail, and pushes the file to the CRM—without a single human touch unless intervention is needed.

Result: onboarding time drops from 3 days to 30 minutes.

Use Case 3: Agentic AI in AML

A mid-sized bank implements an agentic AI to support transaction monitoring. The system doesn’t just flag potential suspicious transactions—it clusters related behavior, cross-references internal and external watchlists, and generates a draft SAR (Suspicious Activity Report) with contextual evidence.

If confidence levels meet pre-approved thresholds, the AI initiates a risk escalation protocol to the AML officer, who reviews and signs off. Over time, the AI learns which patterns trigger real investigations and improves its triage logic accordingly.

Result: 40% reduction in false positives and significantly faster SAR filing, without compromising regulatory integrity.

This isn’t sci-fi—it’s what next-gen compliance looks like.

           Where Are We Headed?

Agentic AI is already making its way into AML transaction monitoring, legal contract review, autonomous negotiations, and supply chain optimization. As large language models become more robust and integrations more seamless, these agentic systems will move from pilot projects to enterprise-critical infrastructure.

But don’t mistake automation for abdication. The future is not AI instead of humans—it’s AI as an agent, working alongside human expertise to reduce noise, speed up decision-making, and surface what truly matters.

           In short:

Agentic AI will separate the reactive from the resilient. The question isn’t if your compliance function will use it. The question is how ready are you to govern it?

Welcome to the high-stakes universe of trade compliance – a realm where geopolitical chess meets corporate survival and artificial intelligence whispers promises of transformation.

In today's hyperconnected global marketplace, trade compliance isn't just another bureaucratic checkbox. It's become an intricate dance of human expertise and technological potential, protecting companies from potentially catastrophic risks.

The Anatomy of Supply Chain Vulnerabilities

When we drill down into the real challenges of trade compliance, several critical weak points emerge that can make even the most seasoned compliance professionals break into a cold sweat:

·Supplier Visibility: Most organizations have clear sight of their primary suppliers, but beyond that first tier, it's like navigating through a dense fog. Tier 2 and tier 3 suppliers often operate in regulatory blind spots.

Data Fragmentation: Companies typically manage compliance data across multiple systems, creating information silos that make comprehensive screening nearly impossible.

Technological Limitations: Legacy screening tools are like bringing a knife to a gunfight – hopelessly outmatched by the complexity of modern global transactions.

Artificial intelligence stands at the threshold of trade compliance – a tantalizing solution still searching for its true form. While the potential is enormous, the reality remains frustratingly just out of reach. Tech providers are circling the challenge, but few have managed to deliver a truly transformative solution.

The compliance world is watching and waiting. AI promises to revolutionize screening processes, but current offerings are more proof of concept than game-changing technology. Most solutions still require significant human intervention, leaving compliance professionals skeptical but hopeful. The market is ripe for a breakthrough – a solution that can genuinely parse complex regulatory landscapes with the nuance and precision that current technologies only hint at.

What's needed is not just another software tool, but a comprehensive platform that understands the intricate dance of global regulations, corporate structures, and geopolitical nuances. Technology providers are inching closer, but they're still building the bridge while standing in the middle of the river.

           Regulatory Landscape: A Moving Target

Regulatory bodies aren't making life easier. The U.S. Treasury Department and European Union have been cranking up the complexity dial, introducing screening requirements that would make a chess grandmaster's head spin. For instance, recent regulatory updates have specifically targeted:

Cryptocurrency transactions with potential sanctions implications

Advanced technology transfers with dual-use potential

Sophisticated encryption and AI technologies that blur military and civilian applications

The most fascinating battleground? Technology and sensitive goods. Semiconductors, artificial intelligence components, quantum computing hardware – these aren't just products.

They're potential geopolitical game-changers that require microscopic levels of scrutiny.

The true game-changer will be organizations that remain agile, continuously evaluating emerging technologies while maintaining a healthy skepticism. Those who can blend human expertise with the most promising technological solutions will navigate the complex compliance landscape most effectively.

This isn't just about avoiding penalties anymore. It's about building a resilient, intelligent approach to global business that can navigate the most turbulent regulatory waters with grace and precision.

The future of trade compliance is still being written – a collaborative narrative between human insight, regulatory complexity, and the tantalizing potential of technologies not yet fully realized.

The Perilous Art of Sanction Evasion: Navigating the Maze of Financial Deception - The Ghost Ship Phenomenon

Sanctions are a critical tool in international relations, designed to pressure rogue states and individuals to change their behavior:

However, the effectiveness of these measures is constantly challenged by the ingenuity of those seeking to circumvent them. Among the shadowy tactics employed, the phenomenon of "ghost ships" stands out as a particularly perilous art form of sanction evasion, navigating a maze of financial deception on the high seas.

Ghost ships, or phantom vessels, are ships deliberately operating without transmitting their Automatic Identification System (AIS) signals. AIS is essentially a vessel's transponder, broadcasting its location, speed, and other crucial information. Switching it off renders a ship virtually invisible to traditional tracking systems, creating a cloak of invisibility perfect for illicit activities.

             The Typologies of Deception:

The use of ghost ships is often intertwined with other sanction evasion typologies, creating a complex web of deception:

                 Flag State Manipulation:

Ships may fly flags of convenience, registering in jurisdictions with lax oversight, making it difficult to trace their true ownership and activities. This ties into the broader challenge of complex ownership structures, where shell companies and layers of intermediaries obscure the beneficial owner.

                 Cargo Misrepresentation:

Manifests can be falsified, misrepresenting the type, origin, or destination of cargo. This is a classic example of trade-based money laundering (TBML), where the movement of goods is used to disguise illicit financial flows. Oil, due to its high value and global demand, is a frequent target of such manipulation.

                 Ship-to-Ship Transfers (STS):

Cargo can be transferred between vessels at sea, often in the dead of night, further obscuring its origin and destination. This "dark fleet" activity makes tracking incredibly challenging and allows sanctioned entities to receive goods without ever docking in a monitored port.

                 AIS Spoofing:

Beyond simply turning off AIS, some vessels engage in "spoofing," transmitting false location data to mislead authorities. This technological cat-and-mouse game adds another layer of complexity to maritime surveillance.

               The Impact of Invisibility:

The implications of ghost ship activity are far-reaching:

                Undermining Sanctions Effectiveness:

When ships can operate undetected, sanctions lose their bite. This undermines international efforts to address threats to peace and security, allowing sanctioned entities to continue funding destabilizing activities.

                Fueling Illicit Trade:

Ghost ships facilitate the smuggling of everything from sanctioned goods and weapons to drugs and counterfeit products. This fuels organized crime and undermines legitimate trade.

                Environmental Damage:

Operating outside regulatory scrutiny, ghost ships are often poorly maintained and pose a significant environmental risk. Oil spills and other maritime accidents involving these vessels can have devastating consequences.

                Security Risks:

The anonymity afforded by ghost ship operations can be exploited by terrorist groups and other non-state actors, posing a direct threat to global security.

                Navigating the Future of Regulation:

Recognizing the growing threat posed by ghost ships, international regulators are beginning to adapt. Organizations like the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and national regulatory bodies are increasingly focusing on maritime risks within their broader efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. Expect to see:

                Enhanced AIS Monitoring Technologies:

Investment in satellite and other advanced tracking systems to identify vessels exhibiting suspicious behavior, even without AIS signals.

                Greater International Cooperation:

Information sharing between jurisdictions is crucial to uncovering the complex networks behind ghost ship operations. Expect increased joint operations and intelligence sharing.

                Focus on Beneficial Ownership:

Regulations are likely to tighten around beneficial ownership of vessels, making it harder to hide behind shell companies and nominee directors. This links to broader efforts to increase transparency in global finance.

                Increased Scrutiny of STS Transactions:

Expect stricter monitoring of ship-to-ship transfers, with greater emphasis on due diligence for companies involved in maritime trade.

The world economy, a complex and ever-shifting landscape, plays a crucial role in the shadowy realm of sanction evasion. Think of it: global trade slows, as the World Trade Organization (WTO) recently pointed out, revising its 2023 growth forecast downwards. Geopolitical tremors, like the ongoing war in Ukraine, ripple through the markets, and a rising tide of protectionism makes legitimate commerce a trickier game. In this climate, the lure of illicit activity, the siren call of quick profits, grows stronger. And that's where the ghost ships come in.

These phantom vessels, slipping through the cracks of international oversight, become a tempting tool for those looking to skirt the rules. They're a symptom, really, of a system under pressure. Inflation bites, interest rates climb, and suddenly, the cost of doing business the right way becomes a heavy burden. For some, the temptation to cut corners, to sail in the shadows, becomes almost irresistible. The ghost ship, a vessel cloaked in anonymity, offers a way out, a path around the obstacles of legitimate trade.

Look at what's happening with Russian oil. Sanctions hit, and almost immediately, we see a surge in these shadowy voyages. Ghost ships materialize, ferrying oil across the seas, a testament to the ingenuity – or perhaps, the desperation – of those trying to circumvent the rules. And naturally, this activity doesn't go unnoticed. International authorities, like hawks circling above, sharpen their gaze, trying to pierce the veil of secrecy surrounding these clandestine operations. The game of cat and mouse intensifies.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the global watchdog for financial crimes, recognizes the threat. They've laid out specific recommendations for tackling illicit financing in the maritime sector, guidelines aimed at identifying and mitigating the risks posed by ghost ships and their deceptive tactics. This is a clear signal: expect more regulation, more scrutiny, more pressure on those operating in the murky waters of international trade.

But here's the rub: pinning down the numbers, getting a clear picture of the scale of ghost ship activity, is like trying to grab smoke. These operations are, by their very nature, designed to be invisible. Yet, whispers and rumors abound. Reports surface of increased activity in hotspots like the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, areas where sanctions against Russia have redrawn the map of maritime trade.

So, the dance continues. As those seeking to evade sanctions become more cunning, regulators try to keep pace. The ghost ship, a symbol of this ongoing struggle, reminds us that the fight against financial deception is a constant, evolving challenge. It's a high-stakes game played on the world's oceans, a game with profound implications for global security and economic stability.

Sanctions compliance. Just the words themselves can send shivers down a compliance officer's spine.

It's a complex, ever-evolving landscape where getting it wrong can have catastrophic consequences – hefty fines, reputational damage, and even criminal charges. For years, we've relied on traditional methods, often involving manual checks, spreadsheets, and a whole lot of cross-fingers. But let's be honest, in today's world, are these methods really cutting it anymore? The answer, increasingly, is a resounding no.

Think about it. Sanctions regulations are in constant flux. New lists pop up, existing ones are amended, and the geopolitical climate can shift dramatically overnight. Keeping up with these changes is a herculean task. Imagine trying to manually sift through thousands of entries, cross-referencing them against your customer database, while simultaneously trying to understand the nuances of each specific sanction regime. It's like trying to drink from a firehose. Inevitably, things get missed. Human error creeps in. And the risk of non-compliance skyrockets.

From a compliance officer's perspective, this is a nightmare scenario. We're constantly juggling multiple priorities: ensuring business operations run smoothly, minimizing risk, and staying on top of the latest regulatory changes. Traditional methods simply aren't scalable or efficient enough to handle the sheer volume and complexity of modern sanctions compliance. We're drowning in data, struggling to keep our heads above water.

This is where AI comes in.

Now, I know what you're thinking. AI? Isn't that just a buzzword? Well, in this case, the hype is real. AI-powered solutions offer a game-changing approach to sanctions compliance, and here's why:

Automation: AI can automate many of the tedious, manual tasks that currently consume so much of our time. Think automated screening of customers and transactions, continuous monitoring for changes in sanctions lists, and even automated reporting. This frees up compliance officers to focus on more strategic, high-value activities, like risk assessment and policy development.

Enhanced Accuracy: Let's face it, humans make mistakes. We're not perfect. AI, on the other hand, can process vast amounts of data with incredible accuracy, minimizing the risk of human error and missed red flags. This significantly reduces the likelihood of sanctions breaches.

Real-time Monitoring: Regulations change constantly. AI-powered systems can monitor these changes in real-time, alerting compliance officers to any updates that might impact their business. This allows for proactive risk management and ensures that compliance programs are always up-to-date.

Data Analysis & Insights: AI can analyze vast datasets to identify patterns and anomalies that might be indicative of sanctions evasion. This provides valuable insights that can help compliance officers to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks.

Scalability: As businesses grow and regulations become more complex, AI-powered solutions can easily scale to meet the increasing demands of sanctions compliance. This ensures that compliance programs remain effective and efficient, even as the business evolves.

From a compliance officer's perspective, the benefits are clear.

AI offers a way to move beyond reactive, manual processes and embrace a more proactive, data-driven approach to sanctions compliance. It empowers us to stay ahead of the curve, minimize risk, and focus on what matters most: protecting our organizations from the potentially devastating consequences of non-compliance.

Of course, implementing AI-powered solutions isn't a magic bullet. It requires careful planning, investment, and ongoing monitoring. And it's crucial to be aware of the potential pitfalls. Here are some hidden risks to consider:

Data Dependency and Quality: AI algorithms are only as good as the data they're trained on. If the data is incomplete, inaccurate, or biased, the AI system may produce flawed results, leading to false positives or, worse, missed red flags. Garbage in, garbage out.

Explainability and Transparency: "Black box" AI models can be difficult to understand. It's essential to choose solutions that offer some level of explainability, allowing compliance officers to understand how the AI arrived at a particular decision. This is crucial for audit trails and regulatory scrutiny.

Over-Reliance and Deskilling: There's a risk of becoming overly reliant on AI, potentially leading to a decline in human expertise and critical thinking. Compliance officers should still possess a deep understanding of sanctions regulations and be able to critically evaluate the output of AI systems.

Security Risks: AI systems can be vulnerable to cyberattacks. Protecting sensitive data and ensuring the security of AI algorithms is paramount. A breach could compromise the integrity of the compliance program and expose the organization to significant risks.

Bias and Discrimination: AI models can inadvertently perpetuate and amplify existing biases in the data, potentially leading to discriminatory outcomes. It's crucial to carefully test and monitor AI systems to ensure fairness and avoid unintended discrimination.

But in a world where regulations are constantly changing and the stakes are higher than ever, it's a necessary upgrade. The future of sanctions compliance is undoubtedly technological, and it's time for us to embrace it. The alternative? Continuing to rely on outdated methods and hoping for the best. And in the world of sanctions compliance, hope is not a strategy.
